How do I set up OBS and connect it to VXLive?
In some cases, you may encounter what are known as artifacts in your image. Customers perceive and describe this as a "bad image" or "pixelation." In these instances, installing OBS and integrating it with your camera can help. This guide will show you how to connect OBS with VXLive.
If you don’t have OBS installed on your computer yet, follow these steps to install it:
Download OBS from the manufacturer’s website.
The current installation process is as follows and needs to be done only once:
- Select the “optimized for streaming” settings.
- Keep the video settings as defined by OBS (a resolution of 1920x1080 + 60/30 FPS).
- For the platform, choose Custom.
If OBS is already installed on your computer:
Reopen the settings and select the "Stream" tab. Enter the "Server or Stream URL" from VXlive under "Server," and add your "Stream Name" from VXlive under "Stream Key." You can easily copy this information with a click. Then confirm again by clicking "OK."
You will then be prompted to enter the server and the stream key. To obtain this information, switch to VXLive.
Click on “Go Online” at the top left and select “Stream with third-party software” in the next window.
After selecting “OBS,” you will see the server and stream key (stream name). Transfer both values into OBS and click continue. OBS will want to check your data and optimize the settings. Confirm this and run the test.
Now you're almost there, and you can go online!
Add your camera under "Sources." To do this, click on the "+."
In the next window, select "Video Capture Device."
Then, give your camera a name and confirm by clicking "Okay."
Now a new window titled "Properties" will open. For "Device," select your webcam. Under "Resolution/Frame Rate Type," choose "Custom."
Once you have set the resolution (here: 1280x720) and the "FPS" to "30," confirm by clicking "Okay." Leave all other values as defined by OBS.
The image now needs to be adjusted and filled. To do this, right-click on the camera preview and select "Transform" in the navigation. Then choose "Fit to Screen." Done!
In the future, you will go online by clicking "Start Stream" and then "Go Online" in VXLive.
